Effect of surface morphology on the mesoporous silicon modified nanofiltration membranes for high rejection performance

A new method to prepare composite nanofiltration membrane directly and efficiently by controlling the pore structure surface morphology of is proposed in this paper. The fabrication mesoporous silicon modified polysulfone blend membranes via a phase inversion method. structural morphology, functional group analysis, elemental hydrophilicity, chargeability, nitrogen pollutant (ammonia nitrogen, nitrate total nitrogen) rejection properties were found be dependent on amount incorporated. combination framework layer can not only effectively improve with narrow size distribution but also increase compared pure NF membranes. material absorb storage nitrogenous solution facilitate following interfacial polymerization, as well induce change radius structure. Compared those membranes, exhibit increased water permeation flux high 29.09 L m−2 h−1 at 0.2 MPa. results show that optimum doping range 0.5%-1.0%. Characterization studies demonstrated addition leads decreased size. Then, due enhanced hydrophilicity carboxyl hydroxyl groups surface, electrostatic repulsion between molecules pollutants.
